'Teen Mom 2's Leah Messer Reveals How Her Mom Reacted to Reading Her New Memoir

Teen Mom 2 star and mother-of-three Leah Messer has a new book coming out next week titled Hope, Grace & Faith (pre-order it here!). The book will cover Leah's experience on the MTV series, but also her, "struggle to rise to the challenges of motherhood, through her harrowing journey to find a diagnosis for one of her twin girls with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, and the collapse of two marriages."
Excerpts of the book have been released online and it seems the West Virginia native will be giving fans an up close and personal look at her life, and she's not sugarcoating it. For instance, while it seemed as though Leah suffered a miscarriage with former husband Jeremy Calvert on season four of Teen Mom 2, her memoir states that she actually lied and had an abortion. She will also open up about her addiction to painkillers following the birth of her youngest daughter, and her journey to sobriety. Additionally, the book explores Leah's relationship with her mother, Dawn, which hasn't always been great. As we previously reported, she recalls a particularly disturbing instance where her mom pressured her into having sex with a friend during a game of spin the bottle.

However, their relationship has come a long way since Leah's high school years. The MTV star opened up to People about how her mother reacted to the struggles detailed in the memoir. “My mom had started reading the book. It was really hard for her to read the book, but the relationship with my mom now is like, I finally have a mom that loves me. I finally feel like I have a mom that my kids can look up to for a grandma. It’s changed my entire family,” she explained. “The other day my mom brought a gift, which I’m not used to being given, and I realized it’s okay to love yourself and accept gifts and accept acknowledgement. That has changed my entire dynamic. For that, I’ll forever be grateful. I would do it all over again to have the family that I finally have now.”
It's so great that Leah has her mom's support nowadays. Despite all of the drama she's faced in her life, it seems there's no place she would rather be today. Hope, Grace & Faith will be available May 5.
