Stranger Things fans' hopes were reinvigorated this week when David Harbour, who played Jim Hopper, seemingly began dropping hints on social media of not only a fourth season, but of his possible return to the beloved sci-fi series.

Seventeen reports that fans are going a bit bananas after Harbour changed his profile picture on Instagram multiple times this week, using different numbers that added up to Murray's phone number from Season 3. He then began changing his picture to objects: a rainbow, sunflower, the number 450, and a cartoon depicting the Milgram Experiment—a medical treatment that used electroshock therapy.

Diehard Stranger Things fans on Reddit noticed that these objects were not random, but rather the words that Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) mother, Terry Ives (Aimee Mullins), kept repeating over and over when she went to see her in Season 2.

Harbour then began to post the images with even stranger (see what I did there?) captions. For example, he posted the picture of an upside down sunflower and wrote, “Looking at an object from behind and inverted can add a new dimension to it. This can work with anything, but most especially those objects you think you know well.” This could be alluding to an even further complexity to the Upside Down.

Though Hopper allegedly died last season sacrificing himself to close the gate to the Upside Down, fans have speculated he is still alive and is being held captive by the evil Russian scientists. With all of these mysterious posts from Harbour, it seems we might be on the right track.
