Jenelle Evans Asks for Racist Accusations to Stop as She Receives Backlash for Not Speaking on George Floyd's Death

Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason have been at the center of controversy almost constantly over the past few years, with Teen Mom fans frequently angered by their political views and prejudiced posts. For David specifically, the former MTV star was even fired from the show after he posted homophobic messages to Twitter, and has received backlash for allegedly being racist as well.
The mom-of-three has stood up for David on multiple occasions, and even recently claimed he was not a racist in an Instagram interview. "He's actually grown up around the black community crowd. [They are] his best friends," she stated, which, of course, only annoyed people even more. And now, Jenelle is defending herself after she allegedly received criticism for not speaking out on the tragic murder of George Floyd. In a video reposted by fan account @TeenMomShadeRoom_, the former reality star asked for the racist accusations in her comments section to stop.
"I do not condone what that police officer did to George Floyd and I'm very sorry that happened," Jenelle starts off the video below by saying. And just as she seemingly is about to add a "but," she continues with, "With that being said, I would like for all the racist comments to stop being sent to my inbox and I'd appreciate it if you guys stop calling me a racist because I haven't spoke out yet." She goes on to explain whenever she weighs in on a subject, "everyone hates me," so she was hesitant to make a statement about Floyd.
Commenters seemed to be divided on the post, with one person writing, "well... she could have said worst," and another adding, "I mean she’s right though.. [shrugging emoji]." However, some weren't ready to let Jenelle off the hook that fast. "Who remembers when she said David could not be racist since he was black himself?," one person wrote. "See this is why she gets called out, her and David spew some of the most idiotic things I’ve ever heard." Another said, "She could've just said black lives matter and moved on. Trying to justify her racism is cringey [sic]."
It's certainly true that most things Jenelle says is met with backlash, but there's almost always a good reason for the criticism.
