Friends alum Courteney Cox got real about her decisions in changing her face.

While speaking with People last year, the actress opened up about embracing herself, aging in the spotlight, and why she chose to get rid of her facial fillers. In the interview, the star admitted to using fillers to combat insecurity and Hollywood stigma. “I would say it’s a common thing you go through as you age, especially in Hollywood,” Cox said. “You have to accept getting older, and that’s something that I had a hard time doing.” The star started getting injectable fillers to regain her confidence, but quickly saw the downside. “[I tried] to keep up with time in a way that was anything other than maintenance. I didn’t realize it until one day I kind of stepped back and went, ‘Oh s**t. I don’t look like myself,” Cox told the outlet.

Cox now prides herself on self-acceptance. "So now I just embrace who I am and getting older with what God gave me, not what I was trying to change,” she said. “I am think I am at a stage of my life where it’s very easy to be comfortable with who I am and who I’ve become and who I strive to be.” Confidence doesn't always come easily, so it's great to see her be so candid about her past struggles.

Cox was set to appear alongside her Friends costars for an unscripted reunion special, but production was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime, you can watch her in all seasons of Friends on HBO Max when the streaming service debuts on May 27.
