While news of the upcoming Friends reunion special has fans of the beloved '90s sitcom over the moon with excitement, that doesn't mean that many have forgotten about their desire for a full on reboot. Just like with The Office fandom, people are pretty split on whether or not the Central Perk gang could ever be reimagined, but you've got to admit it's still pretty fun to think about.

So it's not entirely surprising that when Courteney Cox (who played Monica Geller) caught up with Kevin Nealon on his YouTube series Hiking With Kevin, they got on the topic of casting new actors for a hypothetical remake. As reported by People, the Golden Globe nominee was quick to offer, "Well, Timothée Chalamet can be Joey," adding, "Ugh, god, he’s so great." After both deciding the 24-year-old Academy Award nominee "looks a little bit like Joey," they toyed with the idea of Jonah Hill for Ross, before changing the subject.

Given the fact that it took what seemed like forever to get the original six cast members back together for any kind of project (Friends ended in 2004, after all), we're sure a reboot could be generations away from now. The fact that they're even doing a reunion special is a surprise to fans, after months of reports and rumors about the idea had been circulating. As we previously reported, the hour-long special will see the stars come together for an unscripted hang-out of sorts, and will debut on WarnerMedia's new streaming service, HBO Max.

The reunion has yet to have a release date, but HBO Max is premiering this May. Until then, we'll be coming up for our dream reboot cast, even if it doesn't happen for another 15 years.
