It was reported in 2018 that several Marvel characters would be getting their own series on the streaming service Disney+. One show will focus on reluctant antihero Loki, while another series will focus on the relationship between the newly-appointed Captain America Sam Wilson and the former Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes. As excited as I am to see Loki up to his usual tricks and Sam and Bucky adjust to a world without Steve Rogers, the series that I'm most excited for is WandaVision, which will focus on Wanda Maximoff and her role as the Scarlet Witch.

Wanda first made her appearance along with her brother Pietro (a.k.a. Quicksilver) in a mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a prisoner. Her brother perishes at the Battle of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Wanda goes on to join Captain America's team in Civil War. Scarlet Witch has telekinetic abilities and it could be argued that she is the most powerful Avenger after the death of Tony Stark and the departure of Steve Rogers. Elizabeth Olsen will be returning to the MCU for the role.

The series was supposed to premiere on Disney+ later this year, but with the film industry facing delays in production due to the coronavirus pandemic, it makes sense that some fans expected the series to premiere later than its planned December release date. However, as reported by CBM, WandaVision actually reportedly finished filming before the COVID-19 pandemic started. It seems that we will likely be seeing Wanda Maximoff on our televisions this year, after all!

Although he died in Avengers: Infinity War, Vision actor Paul Bettany is set to reprise his role in the show. Bettany told IGN at the D23 Expo that WandaVision is "definitely the oddest of all the Marvel endeavors so far," and added that the "scripts are amazing." I was super sad when Vision died because he was such an interesting character, so it will be awesome to see him interacting with Wanda again.
