Following the controversial news that Spider-Man would be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the deal dissolved between Marvel Studios and Sony, fans had little to go off of besides a statement from Sony reps, as well as messages from Marvel stars. We even heard from Spider-Man actor Tom Holland’s father on this issue.

But now we finally know what the webbed hero himself thinks of the split.

Holland stopped by Entertainment Weekly’s studio backstage at Disney’s D23 Expo to share his thoughts about the Spider-Man news, and in true Holland fashion, he was upbeat and optimistic. He stated:

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies. It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

Holland's statement echoed sentiments that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also shared with EW. Feige explained that he was grateful for his role as a Spider-Man producer, but that they knew it would come to an end eventually.

Though the future is cloudy for the Spider-Man franchise, it is good to know there isn’t bad blood, especially for Holland.
