Thanksgiving is a wonderfully stressful time of year. On the one hand, it is a day of family, gratitude, and an amazing amount of carbs, but on the other, it is also a day for arguments, politics, arguments about politics, and awkward run-ins with family members you would never share a meal with if you didn’t share DNA.

Luckily, The Office is always here to remind us that things could be worse. And when I say worse, I mean Jan and Michael’s dinner party worse.

The official Office Twitter account tweeted the most on-the-nose Thanksgiving meme this week, posting pictures of Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and his boss-turned-lover Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin) duking it out at their infamous dinner party. The caption reads, “Trying to get through a single #Thanksgiving dinner like...”

For those who haven’t seen it, the episode follows the tumultuous couple as their tensions build, finally exploding at a dinner party at which Jim (John Krasinski), Pam (Jenna Fischer), Angela (Angela Kinsey), and Andy (Ed Helms) are in attendance...among a couple uninvited guests. It is, hands down, the most awkward and cringe-worthy dinner party in the history of TV. As Jim says in his interview, “Michael and Jan seem to be playing their own separate game and it’s called ‘Let’s See How Uncomfortable We Can Make Our Guests’ and they’re both winning.”

So remember, Scrantonites, this Thanksgiving when your great aunt asks for the 15th time why you are single, or your grandpa mutters something a little less than P.C., just thank your lucky stars that Jan isn't throwing a Dundie award at your $200 plasma TV.
