Stranger Things returns with Season 3 in just a few days, meaning media attention is being directed at the series’ top tier cast members, who have distinguished themselves in the past two seasons in memorable and authentic roles. Among these stars is Natalia Dyer, who this week shared what it was like to work with boyfriend Charlie Heaton on the set of the show.

"It's an interesting thing to work with somebody who you go home with. It's always really fun," she told Refinery29 (via Men’s Health). "We're really comfortable with each other. So we can play and feel more free, and we can talk about it before."

Dyer and Heaton, who play, respectively, Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, began officially dating before Season 2 of Stranger Things aired--which was fitting, as that season saw Nancy and Jonathan become romantically involved, as well.

Since the first season, viewers have reacted positively to the characters’ complexity and chemistry, which, according to Dyer, owes to the uncertain circumstances of the first season. “We were all very much like, 'Well, I don’t know if I’ll ever seen you again,’” she said. “There’s that sense of who knows if you’ll ever work together with this person ever again? Who knows? This might be your only chance to play like this.”

We’re glad that those circumstances brought Dyer and Heaton together--their chemistry is a huge part of Stranger Things, and we’re excited to see more of them when Season 3 premieres on July 4.
