Scarlett Johansson Says 'Black Widow' Fits in 'Its Own Genre'
By Ryan Carroll

Marvel’s slate of announcements at San Diego Comic-Con have made tremendous ripples in the entertainment world, especially Cate Shortland’s Black Widow. As scant details are beginning to emerge, fans are probing for more pieces of information on the film--and star Scarlett Johansson recently gave another, saying that it would occupy a genre all its own.
“It's pretty gritty, but it's also surprising...it's kind of in its own genre, I think," Johansson told MTV News (via Comic Book). "Some of the movies that we talked about, we talked about The Fugitive, we talked about Logan, we talked about Terminator 2."
Though the three films Johansson lists are rather different, they all revolve around characters on the run from malevolent forces, and all feature focus on both the fugitives and the individuals around them, possibly hinting at a skeleton of Black Widow’s plot.
Notably, however, no other members of the Avengers have been confirmed to appear in the film, meaning that other cast members including David Harbour or O. T. Fagbenle may fill similar roles in the story. Previously, Harbour, who plays the Red Guardian, has hinted at a partnership and subsequent split between the characters.
Per Comic Book, the chronology of the film, which places the story after Captain America: Civil War, would allow for the appearance of characters such as Hawkeye, but Johansson has remained glib about this possibility, saying in an interview with Good Morning America that, “My lips are sealed. You got to wait and see.”
While this information just leaves us thirsting for more, we understand Johansson’s desire for secrecy--so we’ll be keeping our eye out for any more details to emerge from the film.
