Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in over 125 roles over the span of his thirty-year career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he's the most bankable actor in Hollywood, a conclusion made by Box Office Mojo in 2018.

With these kinds of stats, there is obviously going to be some overlap in characters, universes, and connections between the two. And no two of Jackson’s characters have caused theories more than that of Nick Fury of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Mace Windu from Star Wars.

As many MCU fans know, the Star Wars films were referenced in Captain America: Civil War, proving that the beloved saga does exist in that reality.

This has left fans wondering: Does that mean Mace Windu and Nick Fury are somehow the same person, perhaps in different dimensions or planes of existence?

Comicbook.com reports that, sadly, this is probably not the case.

Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently stopped by The Star Wars Show web series and were asked about the connection between Jackson’s Windu and Fury. The brothers, who have directed a number of MCU films, basically said that fans need to let it go.

Anthony said, “They just look like those characters.” Joe added, “Nick Fury happens to look a lot like Mace Windu.”

Though a Star Wars/MCU crossover would likely make our heads explode, it looks like Jackson is just doing what he does best…playing great roles.
