Pedro Pascal is an accomplished actor in his own right, starring in critically acclaimed series like Narcos as Javier Peña and Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell. However, when Pascal joined the cast of The Mandalorian, becoming part of the Star Wars world was quite the game changer for him, understandably.

While some Star Wars productions are praised more than others, there's no denying how influential the franchise is, and it seems that's the same way Pascal looks at it. When asked by Yahoo! how he felt about The Mandalorian receiving critical acclaim, while Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which came out around the same time, saw less than pleasant reviews, the actor said he simply puts his focus on the work.

"I didn’t feel that at all," Pascal explained. "The virtue of being neck deep in work. Once you’re in this world of Lucasfilm, you’re only touching on the positive. You just deposit something."

Elsewhere in the interview, Pascal also discussed the phenomenon of Baby Yoda, a.k.a. The Child. "We never talked about it being a sure thing, but I unconsciously kept to myself that the very first time I saw the image in the illustration during that first meeting, I was like 'oh my God, people are going to lose their mind over that,'" he said of the character's immediate popularity. "So basically it was no surprise." In terms of working with the puppet that portrays the child, Pascal called the experience "incredible," elaborating, "To see them care for the doll and also find different ways for it to express itself and become an incredible scene partner is incredibly fascinating."

Since The Mandalorian premiered last fall, Star Wars fans everywhere fell head over heels for Baby Yoda. Unsurprisingly, the little green guy's infectious cuteness has spawned a wide variety of merchandise, such as a Chia Pet, a life-sized puppet, printed shoes, and even holiday ornaments, which will be available for ordering online and in Hallmark stores this October.

Hopefully Pascal is able to maintain this positive and excited attitude when it comes to the Star Wars world and the divisive opinions that might come with it, because he's not leaving a galaxy far, far away anytime soon. Filming on Season 2 of the sci-fi series has concluded and is expected to premiere in Oct. 2020, with the third season already in pre-production.
