Natalie Portman Weighs in on Rumors She'll Return as Padmé in 'Star Wars: Episode IX'

With Episode IX on its way and closing out the Skywalker saga, fans have been wondering which characters from previous Star Wars movies will return.

One character in particular, Padmé, Amidala has been a subject of speculation regarding a return. Rumors have suggested the character from the prequel, who's played by Natalie Portman, can possibly return in the upcoming movie in flashbacks or dream sequences.

However, no one has approached Portman regarding a Padmé appearance in Episode IX, according to the actress herself.

"I don't know about that," she told Buzzfeed's AM2DM. "I'm guessing that's not true because I don't know about it yet."

Padmé has not been seen in the Star Wars universe since 2005's Revenge of the Sith, where the character died of a broken heart. And while we're sure Portman is honest about not appearing in the new movie, it wouldn't be a long shot, as we've seen deceased characters make a comeback in other Star Wars movies, namely Yoda in The Last Jedi.
