We all know by now that if you upset certain fandoms--especially ones as intense as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s--there is going to be some serious backlash. And, as we learned from Game of Thrones of course, there will be petitions. Lots of petitions.

Which is exactly what is happening over the news that Spider-Man will no longer be a part of the MCU after a deal dissolved between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, announced this week.

Fans immediately took to platforms like Change.org to start petitions to #SaveSpiderMan. Digital Spy reports that one petition, called “Keep Spider-Man with Disney and the MCU” already has close to 10,000 signatures.

The petition’s creator, Nate Phillips, explains in the description:

“After the news today that Sony walked away from their deal with Disney, I cannot in good faith stand by while Spider-man and his fans around the world become collateral damage. Spider-man in the MCU has brought some of the best moments in modern cinema history. SONY you must let go of this property or renegotiate with Disney to keep all of the fans happy.”

And this isn’t the only petition. Fans have been starting them left and right and are gaining loads of signatures, all demanding that Spider-Man remains in his proper home.

Though Sony has released a statement saying they hope this situation changes in the future, they have not publicly addressed the fan petitions…yet.
