It seems like the original Hulk wants to “Hulk smash!” the character’s portrayal in Avengers: Endgame.

CBR reports that Lou Ferrigno, the star of the 1970's-1980's The Incredible Hulk series, recently spoke at Canada's Hamilton Comic Con. In his panel, he explained how disappointed he was at the depiction of the iconic Marvel role, saying, “What’s happening is that the first two Hulk movies, the CGI was improving, but the last one, Endgame, I was disappointed because the Hulk needs to be hideous, he needs to be a creature."

He placed the majority of his blame on Disney and Bruce Banner/Hulk actor, Mark Ruffalo, explaining, “You see in Endgame, Mark Ruffalo — I think it has a lot to do with him and Disney — I didn’t like the way it portrayed [Hulk]. It took away that beauty, that quality of the Hulk. That’s why a lot of people liked the series.”

The Incredible Hulk series starred Bill Bixby as Dr. David Bruce Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo took over the role from Edward Norton in 2012 in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. He received critical acclaim for his work, and went on to reprise the role in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Almost all of the MCU fandom adores Ruffalo in the role of Doc Green, and while we can all respect our superhero elders, I think Ferrigno might get some backlash on this one.
