This past weekend at the D23 Expo, new footage of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was revealed, and with it came a slew of new questions from fans.

Many questions we all have are inspired by the jaw-dropping scenes, such as Rey wearing a hooded cloak and wielding a red lightsaber, seemingly having turned to the Dark Side. But other questions, like the ones MTV News just asked director J.J. Abrams, have been around from the beginning of the current trilogy, with one of the biggest revolving around Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) potentially redeeming himself in this final film.

Though the question of Kylo's fate has been, and will continue be, answered with the same ambiguity until The Rise of Skywalker premieres, Abrams at least had the decency to hype us up a little more in the process.

“I will say, with an actor like Adam Driver, you can never limit what that man can do,” Abrams says in the clip below. “I will say, without talking about redemption or not, he is mind blowing in this. He has brought a whole other level to this.”

While is isn’t super surprising news as Driver has been pretty phenomenal in the first two films, it is exciting to hear that he will continue to blow us away in the final installment of the saga. The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
