It was announced back in March that Midsommar actress Florence Pugh would be appearing in the upcoming Black Widow standalone film starring Scarlett Johansson, but what fans don’t know is what her role will be.

But after new set photos were posted online this week, fans might have a little clarity on her character.

Metro reports that the new pictures, taken by fans on the set, show Pugh with blonde hair riding on motorcycle with Johansson, and the name "Yelena" can be seen. In 1999, Yelena was introduced in the Marvel comic books as the second character to take on the Black Widow moniker. Yelena was positioned against Natasha as an enemy, but the two characters quickly become allies. Both powerful ladies were trained at the Red Room.

Natasha sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame to obtain one of the Infinity Stones, sadly meeting her demise in the process. Despite her death, the standalone film has reportedly been in production since early June, leaving fans convinced this will be an origin story for the Russian spy.

Many speculate that by introducing Yelena in this film, the MCU is giving themselves a way to continue the Black Widow storyline in future films. The movie does not have a release date yet.
