Best Movies 2018: 10 Fan-Favorites of the Year

2018 hasn't been particularly impressive with movies as far as critics go, but with fans of major franchises, actors, and internet obsessions, this year brought many instant classics. We're not saying these are the best movies ever made, but they definitely made an impact on many.

Here are 10 films of 2018 that earned huge fanbases.

10. To All the Boys I've Loved Before

Netflix's original film To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a classic tale of nerdy girl who falls for popular guy. There's some major drama, but it all turns out okay in the end. An internet boyfriend was spawned from the film, the loveable Noah Centineo.

9. A Star is Born

The Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper remake of classic love story A Star is Born has become a favorite for its incredible music and heartbreaking ending. It's been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture - Drama, along with four SAG Awards. It's predicted to be nominated for multiple Academy Awards as well.

8. Halloween

This year's Halloween- a sequel to the 1978 film, not a remake- got horror fans excited with the return of Jamie Lee Curtis to her iconic role of Laurie Strode. The movie broke the franchise's record at the box office, and is well regarded with fans and critics alike.

7. Avengers: Infinity War

Probably the most highly-anticipated film of the year goes to Avengers: Infinity War, the third installment of the Marvel series. The movie brought all the heroes together to try and fight off the Mad Titan Thanos, only to see half the population turn to dust at his hands.

6. Hereditary

Arguably the best horror film of the year is the disturbing Hereditary, which has brought together many fans of the genre to discuss the WTF moments it includes. Many were stunned to see the film, along with star Toni Collette, snubbed in the award show nominations so far.

5. BlacKkKlansman

Spike Lee's film BlacKkKlansman has been received well with moviegoers and critics alike, as along with the great directing, stars John David Washington and Adam Driver put on phenomenal performances. It's been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture - Drama, along with three Emmys. Like A Star is Born, it's expected to be nominated to multiple Academy Awards.

4. Love, Simon

One of the biggest internet favorites of the year definitely goes to Love, Simon, a story about a highschool student who hides from everyone that he's gay, while simultaneously trying to find out who the anonymous guy he's talking to online is. It's both cute and important for all walks of life to see.

3. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

The newest film on this list is getting a whole lot of attention from both moviegoers and critics, and currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many are dubbing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the best superhero movie in ages.

2. Crazy Rich Asians

Romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians is more than just another cute story, as it marks the first major Hollywood studio film with a predominantly Asian American cast in a modern setting since the 1990s. So far, it's been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, along with one SAG Award.

1. Black Panther

Black Panther marked Marvel's first black superhero with a standalone film. The movie has been celebrated since its release for its predominantly black cast, awesome action scenes, and fun one-liners. T'Challa was later seen this year in Infinity War as well. Black Panther has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture - Drama, as well as two SAG Awards.
