Will there be a Planet of the Apes reunion on the set of Matt Reeves’ The Batman?
It has been rumored that Andy Serkis will be joining Warner Bros.' newest rendition of the Dark Knight's story, according to Comicbook.com. The original report of the rumor comes from Batman On Film, which claims two "very good sources" spilled the news. Serkis and Reeves previously worked together on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
As ComicBook.com continues to report, Serkis has openly stated his love for the director and how much he would enjoy working with him again. When JoBlo asked the actor about a role in The Batman last year, he stated, “Oh, for sure! I mean, I'd go to the edge of the created universe with Matt…I mean, he's the most brilliant director. I would work with anything with him again, y'know, I mean, I absolutely adore him and we're very good friends, close friends, and I think he's an extraordinary director so, for sure."
The upcoming Batman film is set to follow a young Bruce Wayne as he is discovering his destiny to become the famed superhero. After months and months of speculation as to who would be replacing Ben Affleck in the Caped Crusader role, Robert Pattinson was finally chosen--to a very divisive DC fandom.
The Batman is expected in theaters on June 25, 2021.
