DC Entertainment’s The Flash has been floating in limbo for some time, with plans stalling following the character’s appearance in Justice League. Now, however, there appears to be a spot of good news for the film, with Andy Muschietti in talks to come on as director and Christina Hodson tapped to join as writer.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Both Muschietti and Hodson have enjoyed significant recent successes in their career, with Muschietti directing the 2017 film It and its upcoming sequel, while Hodson wrote the upcoming Birds of Prey along with 2018's Bumblebee, which has received the best critical reviews of any film in the Transformers franchise.

Hodson’s reported hiring marks a departure from the script written by comic book icon Grant Morrison, who had penned a script for the film intended for star Ezra Miller. Though Morrison’s script will no longer be used, Miller will still appear in the role, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

If The Flash moves forward, it will join an ongoing wave of DC Entertainment projects to gain momentum, along with James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson. Other projects, including the long-discussed Cyborg and Black Adam films, have not moved forward.

As for us, we’re glad to hear that The Flash is beginning go somewhere--hopefully it means we’ll be able to see the Scarlet Speedster on screen soon
