UPDATE: Kylie Jenner has since responded to Rodriguez's claims, denying she ever discussed being rich. She took to Twitter to claim they only spoke about Game of Thrones. Considering the makeup mogul almost never responds to reports about her, fans believe she's telling the truth. A-Rod, you've got some explaining to do!

If the photos from the red carpet are any indication, the inside of the Met Gala is just as big an attraction as the outside. Though cameras aren’t allowed the inside of the event, there emerged this week one guest who shared his experience at the gala: Alex Rodriguez, who called out Kylie Jenner for allegedly bragging about how rich she is.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated published yesterday (via Cosmopolitan), the retired Yankees superstar offered insight into his experience at the Met Gala with fiancé Jennifer Lopez. "We had a great table," he said. "The black guy from The Wire--Idris Elba, yeah, and his new wife. Some famous singer next to me, I don’t know what her name is. Versace—Donatella. We had Kylie and Kendall. And we had an Asian gentleman from [Crazy] Rich Asians, the lead. Kylie was talking about Instagram and her lipstick, and how rich she is."

Though Rodriguez’s comments can be unpacked on their own, they do speak to Jenner’s growing reputation as a billionaire. She famously became embroiled in controversy after Forbes declared her to be a “self-made billionaire,” prompting some to question how much work she has put into her ventures and how much her privilege has helped her. In fact, even her sister Kourtney Kardashian has commented on her new status, calling her "entitled."

Jenner, for her part, told Forbes (via Cosmopolitan) that “I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future. But [the recognition] feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back … I work really hard.”

Following the debut of her beauty line Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, Jenner has rocketed to success, with her brand being valued at over $900 million--which may soon grow, if reports about her selling part of the company are to be believed.

As for us, we’re fascinated to just watch all of this unfold. While we’re always here for recognition of Kylie’s billionaire status, we also feel like we need some time to analyze Rodriguez’s commentary. And see if any of the Kardashian-Jenners respond.
