While it hasn't been officially confirmed by Warner Bros. or director Matt Reeves, reports of Robert Pattinson's casting in the upcoming film The Batman has fans freaking out, to say the least. Some are completely against the idea that a former Twilight star would be taking on the role of the Caped Crusader, and others have seen Pattinson's work in more recent films and believe he's up to the task.

Angry DC fans have even began petitions to kick Pattinson out of the role, and the actor himself is refusing to talk about the possible casting while out doing press for his new film The Lighthouse. At the end of the day, it's totally unclear as of now if the 33-year-old actor is in fact taking on the Batman role, but his co-star Willem Dafoe, a comic book movie alum, is weighing in.

Dafoe, who played the Green Goblin in the 2000s Spider-Man trilogy, is speaking out in defense of Pattinson. While being interviewed about their new film The Lighthouse, the 63-year-old actor explained why his co-star could be a good Bruce Wayne.

As highlighted by Cinema Blend, Dafoe hilariously stated, "Listen, sure, why not? Why not? He's got a strong chin. That's a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don't think so!"

As Reeves' The Batman is set for a 2021 release, we're assuming we should be getting confirmation on who will be taking on the iconic role sooner than later. And in our opinion, Pattinson could potentially do a great job.
