While the Kardashian-Jenner family lead colorful and often controversial lives of their own, they frequently receive attention (and criticism) for their treatment of their young children. Such criticism cropped up this week, after Khloé Kardashian was shamed online for allegedly projecting dieting culture onto her daughter True and niece Chicago.

In a tweet featuring photos of the toddlers in the Bahamas, sipping on water and eating Cheetos and Veggie Straws, as reported by Cosmopolitan, Khloé wrote the cute caption: “Chi: I heard my mama say 'vacation calories don’t count' True: Don’t tell me twice Chi.”

Although the pics were cute, a number of users promptly responded to Khloé's comment, expressing concern that she was teaching the young girls about dieting. One user wrote, “Are you introducing diet culture to your infant child? Don't do that!” Another, more succinctly, said, “that’s f**ked up."

Other commenters expressed more understanding for Khloé. One, for example, said that she recognized that the tweet was a joke, but also felt that it is problematic to inundate such young minds with dieting rhetoric, saying, “even things said in passing can have massive [effect] on young minds. be careful what you’re teaching! counting calories is rarely a healthy thing, if ever!”

We’re inclined to agree with this commenter. We’re sure there was no ill intent in the tweet, but with something as problematic as diet culture and calorie counting, it’s important to keep small children as far away as possible.
