The Kardashian family encounters a wide variety of drama on an everyday basis, from difficulties with their business ventures to conflict within the family. But during the upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians debuting Sunday, Kim and Khloé Kardashian encounter a more existential problem when they find that the hamster belonging to Kim’s daughter, North West, died.

The difficulty begins when Kim’s assistant Michael comes across the hamster and promptly notifies Kim, who is on the phone with Khloé--who had bought the hamster for North, to Kim’s chagrin. The clip from KUWTK below shows Kim cautiously approaching the hamster’s cage.

“It’s dead?” Kim says. “I don’t have time for a dead hamster. Maybe he’s sleeping.” Upon further investigation, the clip shows, she discovers that the hamster is, in fact, dead.

The clip also shows Khloé express concern about the hamster and about whether North had seen it or not--prompting frustration from Kim, who explains that her five-year-old daughter is at school, and that she doesn't know how she would tell her.

“I don’t know how I’m going to say, ‘By the way, your hamster died,’” Kim says. “[This] is, like, the first time she’s, like, really, really, really loved an animal more than her dog. She’s still into it. And I don’t know what to do. This is why you don’t get someone a pet. Don’t ever do this to me again. I literally hate you.”

On an episode of KUWTK that aired last month, Khloé bought the hamster for North at a pet store, inciting frustration from Kim. As Kim tweeted on May 26, “I can’t believe Khloe let North talk her into getting a hamster[.]”

This episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will air on Sunday on E!. We’ll be watching eagerly, biting our nails to see how Kim will explain the hamster’s passing to North.
