In the world of acting, presumably one of the worst pieces of news you can get is that your character is being killed off. Countless Game of Thrones stars had to endure this, as the HBO hit was, of course, known to be ruthless with all the deaths. And apparently, the showrunners even played into this, pranking some of the actors by telling them their time on the series had ended, when it really hadn't.

Peter Dinklage, who played fan-favorite Tyrion Lannister, once revealed that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss pranked him early on by saying the show had been cancelled. They also pulled a somewhat similar joke on Alfie Allen, as he just explained during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden. However, this time around, they didn't quite get the reaction they were looking for.

Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy, explained during the interview below that he was given a fake script during filming for Season 2 in which Bran Stark stabs Theon, which would mean he was axed from the show. But instead of freaking out about it or calling up Benioff and Weiss, Alfie said he "kind of just took it on the chin and got on with it."

Apparently later, cast members started telling Benioff and Weiss to call Allen, as it had been weeks and he still fully believed he was killed off the show.

The whole thing didn't faze Allen in the slightest, as he explained that when the showrunners eventually called him to say it was a joke, he "was sunbathing." Corden suggested that the prank seemingly backfired, to which Allen confirmed it had.

As hilarious as this story is, now we're just imagining how different the events of Game of Thrones would be if Bran had actually killed Theon in Season 2. Oh, the possibilities.
