And that’s the…soup?

Alfie Allen spoke to Entertainment Weekly about receiving his first Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Theon Greyjoy the final season of Game of Thrones.

The 32-year-old English actor was shocked to hear about the nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, a category he shares with his GoT co-stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and former winner Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister).

Allen told EW, “I wasn’t expecting [the nomination], it’s incredible. There are a lot of actors I admire in that category, just to be there is amazing, just came home now with my dog and letting it sink in.”

He definitely deserves it. The character of Theon had been through the ringer, from being a certified bully, a pitiful prisoner, a sad excuse for a brother, all the way to a hot-stuff hero. No matter what Theon did in previous seasons, you couldn’t help but like him at the end—a true testament to Allen’s acting.

And for a fleeting moment (ya know, before he heroically died trying to save Bran Stark from the Night King) it seemed that Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) couldn’t help but like him too. The two characters shared a heartfelt pre-battle soup-sipping scene, sending fans into a frenzy wondering whether the two could end up together.

When EW asked Allen about the fan theories surrounding the Greyjoy-Stark union, he was seemingly more shocked than he was about his nomination. “I didn’t even know that was being spoken about! It was probably just the soup,.” he joked. “The soup was great, we were probably just into the soup.”

We will have to take your word for it, Alfie.
