Since they appeared onscreen together as will-they-or-won’t-they leads in Spider-Man: Homecoming, rumors have swirled about a real life romantic relationship between Tom Holland and Zendaya. Recently, the actor responded to the speculation, denying that he and and the Euphoria star are dating but nonetheless offering some hints at his romantic life.

In an interview with Elle (via E! News), the Spider-Man: Far From Home star says that he is not currently dating anybody, but that he is “definitely a relationship person,” adding that “I’m not the fleeting type at all; it’s not my way of life.”

Holland’s response follows rumors of his and Zendaya’s pairing, which began in 2017 when an insider reported to E! News that “They got to know each other while on set. They became friends and started getting romantic a few months ago.” Subsequently, Zendaya herself said that the rumors were false, responding with a flat “no” and specifically saying that they were not dating.

Nonetheless, Zendaya and Holland have maintained a close friendship since their time on set together, with Zendaya recently posting an endearing Instagram photo to commemorate Holland’s birthday. The photo, which shows the actress, her assistant Darnell Appling, Holland, and co-star Jacob Balaton on a bed striking a goofy pose, includes the caption, “Happy birthday weirdo, thanks for being the wonderful person you are, we’re all very lucky to have you and your weirdness.”

As for us, we’re glad that Zendaya and Holland can have such a tight relationship even without dating--it’s nice to see real, genuine friendships develop even among the high-flying excitement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the meantime, we'll stick to fawning over their potential on-screen relationship when Spider-Man: Far From Home premieres on July 2.
