The Unexpected Mike Pence Shout-Out in New 'Game of Thrones' Episode
By Olivia Montine

Exhaustion can make people do funny things.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss talked about the unique and unplanned Game of Thrones shoutout to Mike Pence, current Vice President of the United States, in the most recent episode "The Long Night."
“At one point, Miguel [Sapochnik], the director, starts yelling at Jacob [Anderson] to improvise something in Valyrian . . . yell to your troops in Valyrian,” Weiss said to the late night host. “And Jacob was so tired and so delirious and so out of it that all he could think to yell was, 'Mike Pence! Mike Pence! Mike Pence!’ So in one of those scenes when Jacob is yelling and pointing—whatever he was saying was dubbed over—but what he was actually saying was 'Mike Pence! Mike Pence!’”

Jacob Anderson, the actor behind Grey Worm, is notoriously talented at speaking the mythical language, according to the showrunners.
The shout-out is a funny behind-the-scenes tidbit--and we're glad the creators mentioned the moment in this interview.
