'The New Mutants' Still Set to Undergo Reshoots
By Hannah Wigandt

As if The New Mutants didn't have enough bad luck already, with its fate hanging in the balance for a while now, the X-Men spinoff is apparently still in need of more work done. Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg has confirmed that the long awaited movie will head back into reshoots this year.
The New Mutants follows five young mutants captured in a unknown facility, and according to director, Josh Boone, it's a "fully fledged horror movie." After a series of pushbacks in 2018, along with the reports of scheduled reshoots, Disney bought 21st Century Fox, and it became even more uncertain if we'd ever get to see the film's release.
Now, Disney has rescheduled The New Mutants' release for April 2020, three years after its trailer dropped.
Kinberg talked to Digital Spy to confirm the reshoots and explained why the movie has been postponed so many times.
"For all of these movies, Marvel's really brilliant at scheduling pick-ups into their budget and schedule so it's all prepared, and we have never been that smart," he shared. "For us, we're always scrambling to get these actors back together so they're all in the same place at the same time."
Kinberg also explained that most of the cast from The New Mutants also star on television shows, so trying to get them all in the same place is even harder to do because of their filming schedules.
The news of these reshoots could be good or bad. It's hopefully because they want to release the best possible version of the movie. But considering the amount of times the film has been pushed back, there might just be something wrong behind the scenes.
