Upon hearing the news earlier this week that Warner Bros. was apparently planning a Harry Potter TV series, most Potterheads were probably suspicious on how much truth was actually behind the report. As author J.K. Rowling has dismissed the idea in the past (and because it seemed too good to be true), we weren’t sure how much we could believe from just one source.

Well, good thing we didn’t get our hopes up too much, because the whole thing has just been debunked. Hypable reached out to Rowling’s reps, to which they confirmed, “there are no plans to develop the Harry Potter stories into a TV series. Any reports are purely speculative.”

While the acclaimed author has been vocal on shutting down rumors about a TV show in the past, that doesn’t mean the stars of the Harry Potter franchise share the same opinion. Back in February, the Boy Who Lived himself, Daniel Radcliffe, said he thinks a reboot will happen in his lifetime, and even pitched an idea for a TV series. “A series with the older generation, that could be very cool,” the 29-year-old actor told TV Guide.

At the end of the day, however, it’s Rowling’s call. So if you’re still hoping to see a Harry Potter TV show anytime soon, don’t hold your breath.
