The end of Game of Thrones received serious criticism from fans, especially in how Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) storyline played out. As you'll recall, Dany begins a not-so-slow descent into madness as she struggles to obtain the Iron Throne, which she finally wins only after the slaughter of innocent people. Ultimately, she then is murdered by Jon Snow (Kit Harington), her lover/nephew.

Though many were definitely angry about Dany’s conclusion, it turns out that diehard fan Taylor Swift actually related to it. People reports that the “You Need To Calm Down” singer recently did a tell-all interview with Rolling Stone, and shared how the Mother of Dragons could be seen as the characterization of women in power.

Swift explained:

“Obviously I didn’t want Daenerys to become that kind of character, but in taking away what I chose to take away from it, I thought maybe they’re trying to portray her climbing the ladder to the top was a lot easier than maintaining it, because for me, the times when I felt like I was going insane was when I was trying to maintain my career in the same way that I ascended. It’s easier to get power than to keep it.”

The 29-year-old singer was sure to clarify that she doesn't agree with Daenerys killing innocent people, and continued:

“Maybe this is a reflection on how we treat women in power, how we are totally going to conspire against them and tear at them until they feel this — this insane shift, where you wonder, like, ‘What changed?' And I’ve had that happen, like, 60 times in my career where I’m like, ‘OK, you liked me last year, what changed? I guess I’ll change so I can keep entertaining you guys.'”

If T-Swift identifies with Mad Dany, it's probably good for her ex-boyfriends that she doesn’t have any dragons. But in all seriousness, she's got a point.
