Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s Rick and Morty is no stranger to dipping into the well of popular culture, inundating its episodes with absurd and hilarious homages to everything from David Cronenberg films to the rapper Ice T. This week, it emerged that the show’s next season would become even more involved with the entertainment world, featuring co-stars including Paul Giamatti and Taika Waititi.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via ScreenRant), Roiland explained that there would be a number of guest voices making appearances in Season 4 of Rick and Morty. “We’ve got Paul Giamatti. That’s a hot scoop. We got Sam [Neill]. Taika Waititi does a voice. Kathleen Turner.”

When asked whether Neill would be homaging his appearance in either Event Horizon or Jurassic Park, Roiland explained that it would be neither, and that he would belong to the same species as Waititi. “We wanted a Kiwi flavor to their species,” he explained, referencing the nickname for New Zealanders, a group to whom both Waititi and Neill belong.

Previously, Rick and Morty has featured a number of high profile guest stars, including Nathan Fillion, John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Christina Hendricks, Alfred Molina, Susan Sarandon, Danny Trejo, Lance Reddick, Christian Slater, and Gillian Jacobs. Roiland has also alluded to their enthusiasm for a partnership with Kanye West, saying that they “love the idea of doing something with him” and that they are currently attempting to schedule a collaboration.

While Roiland’s vagueness still leaves a lot to our imagination, we’re excited to see where Rick and Morty goes with its new guest roles--if it’s keeping with its usual madcap style, we’re sure it’ll be great.
