'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Revealed Runtime Confirms It's the Longest in the Franchise

This week, Star Wars fans had something to celebrate: As promised, the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker debuted during Monday Night Football, and presale tickets finally went on sale. As we get closer and closer to the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, the movie's official runtime has just been revealed.
ComicBook.com reports that The Rise of Skywalker comes in at 155 minutes long, making it the longest film of the entire franchise. The previous record-holder was The Last Jedi (2017), which is just three minutes shorter.
It makes sense that the final installment would also be the longest, as director J.J. Abrams, along with Lucasfilm, has a lot to fit into the ending. But don't worry—Abrams has already promised that it will be "satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible," as well as "emotional and meaningful."
Not only will the film have to tie up loose ends stretching all the way back to the beginning, but it will also have to answer the looming questions we have about Rey (Daisy Ridley), especially concerning her parentage and her role as a Jedi, as well as her relationship with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
We can't wait to be (hopefully) blown away in the 155 glorious minutes when the film is released on Dec. 20, 2019.
