'Shang-Chi' to Reportedly Start Filming This Fall
By Hannah Wigandt

Marvel is getting the ball rolling on the new Shang-Chi movie, with casting reportedly already started and filming starting this fall. The new film is just one of the many planned the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves into their Phase 4.
Shang-Chi will be Marvel's first Asian-lead superhero movie, which is helping to open the gates on introducing more inclusivity into the franchise. ScreenRant reports that information known so far is that Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct, and filming will take place in Australia.
Charles Murphy also confirmed on his podcast, Murphy's Law Podcast, "This is 100% for sure, evidence seen with my own two eyes, Shang-Chi is now casting. Shang-Chi will film in Australia fall of 2019."
Additionally, The GWW revealed that Marvel is looking to cast an Asian male between 40-60 years old to play a "wise, old statesman," who is "the leader of his people," along with an Asian actress in her 30s or 40s to play "one of the leader’s most skilled warriors."
If Shang-Chi does start filming in the fall it will make it the third film to start production in MCU's Phase 4. Black Widow is now filming, and The Eternals is expected to start in August. The early production could also mean that it could possibly take the Feb. 21, 2021 (the same day as the Chinese New Year-- coincidence? We think not) movie slot that Marvel has announced.
For now though, we have Spider-Man: Far From Home to look forward to on July 2.
