'Seinfeld's Jason Alexander Comforts 'Game of Thrones' Stars Over Disappointed Fans

Jason Alexander, the actor who brought Seinfeld's George Costanza to life, had some comfort to offer the cast and crew of HBO's series Game of Thrones. Alexander took to Twitter to write, “Dear #GOT company, I know a little something about finales and disappointed fans. My advice: live in joy that you are part of something that moves people so. You were all magnificent. My family and I loved it all. Thanks."

Like Game of Thrones, Seinfeld got hit with backlash from fans for their finale, so Alexander knows what it feels like to not only end a long-term project but to have fans disappointed. The 59-year-old actor followed up his first comment on Twitter by saying: "To be clear, I adored the Seinfeld finale. I just keep getting crap about it from fans. I loved that Jerry/Larry found an organic way to bring back all the amazing guests that enriched our show. It was an
amazing week together filming it."
Game of Thrones fans have gone so far as to argue that HBO remake the final season, creating a petition that has now amassed more than one million signatures. Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark on the HBO series, has called this reaction "disrespectful." In an interview with The New York Times, she said, “People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish, and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it and rebel.”
Turner went on:
“All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season. Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”
Perhaps the real problem is that fans just didn't want either series to end and saying goodbye is hard. But at least the cast of Game of Thrones has the support of actors who have been through this before.
