Before Stranger Things premiered in 2016, there were serious talks to make the show an anthology series, with new characters and storylines each season.

Though the directors of the show decided against it, a writer for the series is now getting the chance to develop his own anthology show. Will Bridges, who wrote an episode for Stranger Things' upcoming season, will reportedly pen a six-episode series for AMC.

The upcoming show is set 15 years from now in a world where scientists have developed a way to undeniably find your soulmate. The series, which is set to debut in 2020, "uses the sci-fi conceit" to tell six separate stories about the trials and tribulations of finding true love, all unique in tone and featuring a diverse group of people and relationships.

The anthology series is based on a short film, For Life, that Bridges and executive producer Brett Goldstein made in 2013.

Bridges' episode of Stranger Things, titled "The Case of the Missing Lifeguard," is the third episode in the Netflix series' third season, which premieres on July 4.
