This story includes spoilers for 'Game of Thrones' Season 8, Episode 5, "The Bells."

If you only have one complaint about the latest episode of Game of Thrones, titled "The Bells," it might be the way Cersei Lannister was finally defeated. The Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, who has proved time and time again to be quite an evil person, met her demise in the arms of the love of her life, Jaime Lannister, as the Red Keep fell upon them. It was a sentimental moment which even got some fans emotional. But was it the death we deserved? I'm saying no.

And it looks like Lena Headey, the actress behind Cersei, wasn't all for it at first either. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 45-year-old star explained she had a "mixed" reaction to her death scene. "I wanted her to have some big piece or fight with somebody," she stated.

But after discussing the scene with co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime, she came to appreciate it more. "The more we talked about it the more it seemed like the perfect end for her," Headey shared. “They came into the world together and now they leave together."

"It’s maybe the first time that Cersei has been at peace," Headey said of her final moments with Jaime. And filming the scene got as emotional as you'd imagine, according to the actress.

"I told Nikolaj, ‘I’ve never seen you so sweet and sentimental.’ And he’s all, ‘What’s happening to me?’ We kept cuddling going ‘I love you.’ It was weird," Headey continued. "There’s a sense of loss that nothing like this will ever happen again. There was a great sense of grief and an enormous amount of gratitude going on."

Both Headey and Coster-Waldau certainly did great jobs wrapping up their characters, we just still kind of wish it was a more epic ending.
