Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer allegedly is getting made fun of for wanting to learn Spanish in an effort to communicate with her new nephew, Caí River. The little boy was born on Monday.

Leah's sister Victoria met her boyfriend and the father to her son while on a rafting trip in Costa Rica. Because of his heritage, the mom-of-three thought it would be nice to learn a new language. That's it, people. But of course, Twitter apparently went off on Leah over her announcement and people reminded the MTV personality that her nephew, who would be raised in Virginia, would grow up speaking English.

Leah then decided to stick up for herself and her decision to learn Spanish, with her tweet below focusing more on internet hate in general than the specifics of what language her nephew would speak.

It seems pretty fair to assume that Leah knows full well her nephew will not emerge from the womb speaking Spanish. Instead, it seems really respectful of Caí River's heritage and family of origin that she would want to learn. Many fans on Twitter jumped to her defense and mentioned they wished more Americans would speak Spanish.

Despite this support, it's really disappointing to see people smack down such a sweet idea on Leah's part.
