A year after its record-smashing box office performance, Black Panther is looking to further cement its spot in cinematic history.
Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, not only became the first Marvel film ever nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, but it's also the first superhero film in general to receive such an honor.

As one of the most successful films in MCU history, there's no question that Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige is proud of Coogler's masterpiece. With the Oscars right around the corner and the film hitting its one-year anniversary, Feige has revealed his favorite scene from the critically acclaimed film.
"That amazing line, that [Coogler] and his co-writer, Joe Robert Cole, wrote for Killmonger as he lay dying outside the vibranium mines looking over Wakanda," Feige told The Hollywood Reporter. "T'Challa says, 'I can try to heal you,' and he says, 'Why, so you can lock me up? Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped ships, 'cause they knew death was better than bondage.' That was in the first draft. It was one of the best lines we ever read."
Interestingly enough, Coogler thought that was the scene Feige would enjoy the least.
"We said, 'There are going to be a lot of revisions, but don't touch that line.' And Ryan said, 'That's the line I thought you'd tell me to cut.' And we said, 'On the contrary, keep it and build more of the movie around it,'" said Feige.
Black Panther earned seven Oscar nominations, and Feige has made it clear that Coogler will give the speech if the film wins Best Picture at the award show next week.
