J.J. Abrams Sets the Record Straight on Whether or Not Baby Yoda is in 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

Baby Yoda from the new Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, is what everyone wants for Christmas this year. But while you’ll be able to find him on everything from cookies to tattoos, you will unfortunately not be seeing him in the new Star Wars film.
ComicBook.com reports that The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams recently stopped by to talk to Variety on the red carpet for the premiere. In the video below, he is asked if the tiny warrior would be in the upcoming movie. Abrams replies, “Baby Yoda is not in this movie.” He is then asked what he thought of the little green guy when he first saw him, to which Abrams very matter-of-factly responds, “The cutest thing in the history of time. How do you deny Baby Yoda? You cannot.”

Abrams is right—no one can seem to deny Baby Yoda. Since his surprise premiere on the series, he has become a sensation. Though we don’t know much about the character’s background yet, we know that he is the most darling, savage, 50-year-old tot this side of the galaxy. According to Carl Weathers, we will learn more about his origins as the show continues.
Maybe Baby Yoda will likely make it to the silver screen one day, but it will not be in The Rise of Skywalker, out Dec. 20.
