'Game of Thrones' Actress Carice van Houten Reveals What It'd Take for Her to Reprise Role for Prequel Series

Carice van Houten, the actress who played Melisandre on Game of Thrones, is open to appearing in the upcoming prequel series, House of the Dragon. While we don't know many details about it yet, the show is said to be set in Westeros about 300 years before the era of Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen.
Thrones fans will understand that van Houten is actually the only character who realistically could appear in a show taking place this many years earlier, because Melisandre is hundreds of years old in the hit show.
With such a complicated character, it would be interesting to get to know more about Melisandre's backstory, and it looks like van Houten agrees. The 43-year-old Dutch star said to Entertainment Weekly on the possibility:
“Well, it would really depend on the storyline. I would be interested if we could see a completely different side to her. It would have to be interesting perspective that we haven’t seen before. Otherwise, I feel like I’ve closed it off in a natural way — which is also a good thing.”
Carice van Houten is open to returning as Melisandre for the #GameOfThrones prequel series 'House of the Dragon' since there's a good chance she would be alive

It would be interesting to get Melisandre's origin story prior to her insane demands for human sacrifices. Maybe we'd get to empathize with her more.
