Fans will recognize Carice van Houten for playing Melisandre in Game of Thrones, the Red Witch who persuaded Stannis to kill his daughter as a sacrifice to win his war. But she was also responsible (Thank you, Melisandre!) for resurrecting Jon Snow, and helped Arya Stark kill the Night King.

The actress recently shared her thoughts on the final season of Thrones, defending what many people believed was wrong with it. According to The A.V. Club, she said she actually loved the randomness of the ending. “I just love the fact that the whole throne was blown away. I really loved it, and also the randomness of talking about who’s going to be king,” the actress told The Hollywood Reporter.

She added that “the silliness of it was very smart." van Houten then tied it into real life, stating, “This is what life is. Some dumbo can become president.”

Thrones' haphazard ending does have some similarities to the political climate in America. At the end of Season 8, fans saw Tyrion work extra hard to convince other characters that Bran Stark was the obvious choice for the king, when no one, fans included, really bought it. Except...I think most people would agree that Bran would have made a better ruler than some political personalities currently in office.
