Emily Blunt Turned Down Two Roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

It's always interesting to hear about which actors auditioned for roles in our favorite movies. We know the portrayal so well from one person playing the character, that it's hard to imagine someone else taking on the part.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe could have been much different if Scarlett Johansson wasn't the Black Widow and Hayley Atwell didn't play Peggy Carter, for example. But these two characters could've actually been played by actress Emily Blunt, however she turned them down.

Blunt has definitely become a high-profile actress in recent years, so it wouldn't have been a surprise at the time if she had accepted one of the parts. The star was looked at for Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger, but due to scheduling issues, she had to reject both.

According to Vulture, Blunt said that the movies never came at the right time and that she also feels weird discussing them because it's not fair to the actresses who got cast.

Both characters made a huge difference in the MCU and went on to be in multiple movies through the years--with Black Widow even slated for her own standalone film--so it's hard not to at least try and imagine Blunt in those parts.
