DC's 'The Kitchen' First Trailer is Here
By Ryan Carroll

DC Entertainment is seeing a number of new developments in its film and television properties, from the positive reception of Shazam! in April to the premiere of Swamp Thing on its DC Universe streaming service on Friday. The company sparked more enthusiasm today by releasing the first full trailer for The Kitchen, a film adaptation of the Vertigo comic series of the same name.
According to CBR, The Kitchen tells the story of the wives of several Hell’s Kitchen Irish mobsters when they take control after their husbands are imprisoned. The story is adapted from the comic series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, which was originally released in 2014.
The Kitchen marks the first film adaptation of the Vertigo imprint since The Losers in 2010, though a number of TV series, including Lucifer, Preacher, and iZombie, have been adapted from them in the past several years.
The film stars Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), and Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) as the aforementioned wives, as well as Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, and Common. Its writer and director, Andrea Berloff, is previously known for writing World Trade Center and co-writing Straight Outta Compton, though this is her directorial debut.
After watching the trailer, we can say for certain that we’ll be watching The Kitchen when it hits theaters on Aug. 9.
