This story includes spoilers for 'Stranger Things' Season 3.

There were a few leaky creatures oozing all over the small screen in Season 3 of Stranger Things, but maybe the grossest in terms of excess sweat was Billy Hargrove.

The teen tormentor, portrayed by Dacre Montgomery, starts off the season sweating poolside as the lifeguard at the community pool. His glistening muscles quickly turn into sickly, fever-induced perspiration when he gets possessed by the creatures of the Upside Down.

So, did Montgomery have to get sweaty for every crazed scene? Luckily, no.

Montgomery told USA Today that the sticky-icky all over his bod wasn’t actually sweat, but lip gloss. The 24-year-old Australian actor shared, “It’s actually lip gloss… The head of the makeup department got a huge tub of lip gloss, and I’m constantly covered in it.”

Montgomery explained that he actually preferred the lip gloss, because the alternative would have been a bit chilly. “We were shooting, and it was really cold. [The lip gloss] is actually nice, because it keeps you looking sweaty all day every day, so you’re not constantly being sprayed," he said.

The character of Billy also has some pretty rough encounters this season, collecting cuts, scrapes, and bruises along the way. Montgomery told USA Today that, in addition to getting glossed up every day, he also, “spent five hours every day in hair and makeup because there’s a lot of cumulative scratches and bruises that most of the viewers might not notice, but it’s important for continuity.”

It sounds like Montgomery put a whole new spin on “My lip gloss is poppin'." We'll miss his incredible acting in Stranger Things.
