Dacre Montgomery Teases an Easter Egg With Billy's Look in 'Stranger Things' Season 3

With Season 3 of Stranger Things just two days away, fans are clamoring for juicy details about the goings-on of their favorite inhabitants of Hawkins, Indiana. A character with whom many have been fixated is Billy Hargrove, played by Dacre Montgomery--who, this week, teased that there is an Easter egg in Billy’s look.
“He has a ring on the middle finger of his left hand, which is a silver ring, and I created a little bit of a backstory for that,” Montgomery said in an interview with InStyle. “Just that it had been a component of my biological mother's life. Not to get too much into detail, but I can say that’s the one little Easter egg in the costume in the sense of my character.”
Montgomery did not elaborate further than that, though he did also add that this season is “huge” for Billy and that he needed to spend multiple hours in hair and makeup before appearing in his scenes. This seems to accord with fan speculation that Billy will become possessed or infected by the Mind Flayer, the extradimensional monster terrorizing Hawkins--or at least by something from the Upside Down.
Outside of this Easter egg, Billy has also made a splash as a style icon in the lead-up to Stranger Things Season 3. Previews for the show indicate that Billy will sport a scant red swimsuit in his job as a lifeguard, and the suit is part of H&M’s Stranger Things collection.
We’re excited to see what kind of looks Billy will show up in--and what nefarious activity he might or might not be up to--when Stranger Things Season 3 premieres on July 4.
