Catelynn Lowell Slammed for Sharing 'Clickbait' About Gary Shirley's Mom Battling Coronavirus

Catelynn Lowell is facing serious backlash yet again for sharing misleading posts on social media, and this time around, Teen Mom fans think she's gone way too far.
Cate's co-star Gary Shirley alarmed fans on Mother's Day when he shared a heartfelt tribute for his mom, revealing to his followers that she was "very sick" with coronavirus. "This has been extremely hard for all of us," he explained. "Our youngest daughter has an immunodeficiency disorder where she gets sick so easily so we have stayed home and took this quarantine very seriously." Of course, his comments section blew up with support from fans, and people have been sending love to his page ever since.
With such a delicate situation, Catelynn is now being slammed for profiting off of it. As reported by The Sun, the wife of Tyler Baltierra shared (and then deleted) a photo of Gary and his family to Instagram this week, with the caption reading, "[Prayer hands emoji] for Gary's family," adding the hashtags "#LinkInBio" and "#Coronavirus." The link in Cate's bio then went to an article about Gary's mom, which the Michigan native was presumably being paid for.
Instagram page @TMMamaDrama screenshotted the post and shared it, writing, "Cool, let's make money off her being sick." Many people then weighed in, and the comments are not pretty. "I had to unfollow her. Her click-baits weren’t just tacky they were offensive," one person wrote. Another added, "Cate is the only [Teen Mom star] who is AGGRESSIVE about click bait."
A third even went as far as to tag Catelynn, commenting, "Really @catelynnmtv ? At a time like this and to someone whose related with one of your good friends & co worker? Is the click bait really paying that much that you have no shame? #disgusting."
Obviously, Teen Mom fans are mad. It's one thing to share these posts about exciting news, but it's another to use someone else's unfortunate situation to benefit yourself. Maybe that's why Catelynn ultimately deleted the post.
