Bob Iger Confirms No 'Star Wars' Films Will Debut on Disney Streaming Service

Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+, will debut sometime this year, and its main promotion will likely be the fact that it's a home for plenty of Star Wars content.
We already know the upcoming live-action series, Star Wars: The Mandalorian, will debut on the streaming service, likely with a ton of fanfare.
But fans have been wondering: Will all the new Star Wars movies Lucasfilm is developing also debut on the streaming service? Turns out, it won't. Disney CEO Bob Iger says the studio will not release any future Star Wars films exclusively on Disney+.
"Almost every movie the studio makes is a $100 million-plus movie, and we're not looking to make movies at that level to the service," the Disney CEO told Barron's. "We're looking to invest specifically in television series on a per-episode business, and we're looking to make movies that are higher budget, but nothing like that. We wouldn't make a Star Wars movie for this platform."
"When everybody goes out on the weekend and you have a movie that opens up to $200 million, there's a buzz that creates that enhances value. We like that," Iger added.
Fans on social media shared the same sentiment.
That's a relief, movies are meant to be seen in the theatre, especially Star Wars.

Iger did confirm, however, that the movies will "eventually" arrive on the streaming service.
