By Natalie Zamora

The 25th annual SAG Awards took place on Sunday night, and although many actors who took home awards were pretty much shoo-ins, many viewers and attendees alike were pleasantly surprised to see the winner for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Marvel's Black Panther was awarded the biggest prize of the night.
It goes without saying that Black Panther has broken many barriers and has opened up a new, exciting space for both superhero films and films with a predominantly black cast. In regards to awards season, it has become the first superhero movie to be nominated for both a Golden Globe for Best Picture - Drama, and Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Needless to say, the cast, including Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Bassett, Michael B. Jordan, and more, was extremely happy to accept the award. Boseman, who played the titular role of Black Panther/T'Challa, gave an incredible speech, both thanking those behind the film and speaking on the significance the film has made as a whole.
Black Panther, which made an impressive $1.347 billion at the worldwide box office, has already confirmed a sequel in the works, with director Ryan Coogler returning to write and direct. Appropriately, Boseman touched upon the upcoming second film in the acceptance speech, proudly stating, "You can't have a Black Panther now without a '2' on it."
Congratulations to a well-deserved cast.
