The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe, have become synonymous with Marvel. The filmmaking duo have brought some of the most classic comics to life, making them a major asset to studio, as the films they've directed thus far have grossed nearly $4 billion in total. And that doesn't even include Avengers: Endgame, which is expected to smash multiple box office records.

The siblings have been such a mainstay for the MCU, it seems unlikely that the two would ever direct a film for Marvel's rival, DC. However, the directors aren't tossing out possibilities. In an interview with MTV News, Joe Russo said that despite the fact there's no talks to make a DC Extended Universe film, it's impossible to rule anything out.

"I mean, our brains are so fogged at this point that I don't know we can consider anything. But, you know, you never say, 'never,' Joe said of the idea of making a DC film.

Directing for both DC and Marvel isn't completely alien. Before Joss Whedon was selected to replace Zack Snyder on Justice League, he directed The Avengers, which is still the sixth-highest grossing film ever. More notably, James Gunn is working on DC's The Suicide Squad before he returns to direct Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

But for now, the Russos, despite their brains being "fogged," have hopes to direct another MCU flick.

“I keep saying Secret Wars, cause that was one of the first books that I really fell in love with as a kid, was Secret Wars,” Joe said, referring to the twelve-issue limited comic series. “This notion of like, you know, event storytelling, and I think that’s part of the reason that we gravitate so strongly towards these event films and these ensemble films. The notion that like you can contain so many different characters, and so many different points of view, and galvanize them around a story point is really compelling to us.”

Secret Wars would be a great project for the directing duo to tackle, as it's a similar crossover storyline as the Avengers films they've worked on. But that's all in the distant future. As for the present, the Russos are looking for Avengers: Endgame, set to be released in theaters April 26, to be a major success.
